Chateau de Tracy Pouilly Fumé

Chateau de Tracy Pouilly Fumé

One of the Loire Valley's most iconic and classic properties, Tracy is in the family hands of the Comte Henry d’Assay and his sisters, who are the descendants of the Scottish Stutt family.

The first members of the noble Stutt family in France were members of a large army that came from Scotland in the fifteenth century to help the future king Charles VII of France during the Hundred Years War.

After naturalization their name was gallicized to become d'Estutt or Destutt. In 1586 François Stutt, married the Lady de Tracy.

Today, the Château de Tracy still belongs to the same family.

When grapes are harvested, they are gently crushed and the best juice is selected as it comes out of the press and each "batch" is made into wine separately. Treatment, which is always damaging to quality, is kept to a minimum mainly thanks to long production periods and prolonged stirring in then lees before fermentation and maturation and bottling.
