Kamil Barczentewicz Gewurztraminer 2022 Poland
A unique and intriguing cool-climate Gewürztraminer with low alcohol for the variety and pronounced, refreshing acidity. This wine emphasizes herbal and mineral qualities, with the grape’s distinctive varietal character playing a subtle yet elegant supporting role. A fairly late start to the season (bud burst took place around 27 April) a cool start and moderately warm conditions during the growing season produced wines with gently lower alcohol and well integrated acidity. A problematic cool and rainy September was rewarded by a relatively warm October. A vintage requiring a lot of work in grape selection, but nevertheless with decent ripeness and aromatic variation thanks to little use of noble rot. Maturation over lees for 9 months, integration in steel.
