The 2017 vintage was a year of unprecedented challenges… an exceptionally warm and dry winter and spring, marked by intense frosts from April 17th to 29th, setting a new record of 12 nights of frost. This was followed by a gloomy, damp, and not particularly warm summer, culminating in a near-tropical late August (humid and hot), which encouraged a significant spread of botrytis cinerea on the Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes at their peak of ripeness. Ultimately, the harvest was accelerated, ultra-fast, and combined with a demanding, precise, and methodical selection process, unprecedented for our winery.
