Lusca Rondo 2021, Lusk, Co. Dublin

The Rondo grape is a relatively new variety and thrives in Northern wine regions like England and Denmark. One of its parents is the St Laurent grape, renowned for its Pinot Noir style wines. Winemaker David Llewellyn believes this variety can make better wine in a cool climate like that of Ireland, than in a hotter climate.

This vintage was aged for 24 months in American oak, and was bottled without fining or filtration. It  should continue to age well until at least 2030.

Nose:
The nose is rich and packed with dark fruit characters. Ripe black cherries, vanilla, blackberries, and a touch of black pepper. Overall it is soft and rounded.

Palate:
On the palate it is medium to full-bodied, dry with soft tannins and medium acidity. Nicely mouth filling with more of those dark fruits as per the aromas. The finish is soft and plummy.

Colour:
Deep, black cherry red in colour.
